Hai Long Bay is one of those places on the tourist trail that leads to the paradoxicalcondition of being a place I would call a “must see” while at the same time saying “I don’t recommend that one goes there.” It’s breathtakingly beautiful but also crowded, hot, dirty, overpriced, and somewhat dull. If money were no object, I’d say helicopter over from Hanoi for a few hours then head back.
